Anyone interested in skiing is welcome to our forum. If you haven't used a forum before, perhaps I can provide a few hints. You must register to able to post a new topic or reply to an existing one. If you post a new topic, you can delete that post. Don't worry about doing anything that will hurt the forum or posting something that you cannot delete or edit. The rule is that if you post something, you can edit the post or delete it. You can reply to an existing post and your comment will go below the original topic. If you want to send a PM (personal message) to the author of a post, select PM. A message will be sent to his or her mailbox on the forum. No one else will see the message. He will be alerted that he has a personal message automatically via his or her regular email. The message content will not be sent to the email.
Some people would like to share images in their posts. It is not hard to do so, but there are a series of steps to make it work right. The pictures must be placed on the web somewhere that is open to access by the forum. The forum doesn't have space to accept your pictures directly. Photobucket.com is one site that will do this for free. You upload your pictures to photbucket.com and then it has a box you highlight to automatically put the correct "reference" text into your blackboard so that you can paste it into your post. It sounds complicated, but it is easy to do, once you do it a few times. The only gotcha is your picture (image) must be fairly small. I use 640x480 pixels, but photobucket.com will not accept any picture bigger than 1024 x 768. So, you need a program to resize your image to that size. Fortunately, you can Google "VSO image resizer" and download a free program from their website. Once you have an account on photobucket.com (google it to get the url for your web browser), these are the steps to include pictures: 1. resize the picture to 640x480 2. log into your account on photobucket 3. use the browse button to locate the picture on your machine 4. upload the picture to photobucket 5. below the picture you will see four selection boxes, select img code 6. select edit on your browser, then paste it into your post, where you want the image.
